sure, just like msn, you can make instant calling and even video call.
while the file transfer mode is quite annoying ... in most the time. it said the connection was relayed and set the speed 1kb/sec

Its like comparing apples to oranges... They are completely different types of applications...
Skype has way more features and can be used as a substitute to your phone...

for DTMF, you must looking for an real VoIP provider, like sipgate.
