I´ve passed the CVOICE (642-632) exam last week with a 950 score...

In my opnion it was an easy exam. Not difficult, you´ll find questions regarding how the signalling is carried over CAS T1 (inband, in other words, using the robbed-bit-signnaling from every 6th and 12th frames for SF and 6th, 12th, 18th and 24th frames for ESF). And how it´s carried over E1 (out-of-band, using Timeslot 17 - Channel 16).

My Lab was the same of the testking, to configure a dial-peer using e.164 patterns, and it gives you the chance to click on the phone to see if your configuration is good or not, like this:

Phone----Router1---------Router2---------POTS PSTN

It asked me to place the config on Router1, where the Phone number was like 5551623745 and the Router2 IP like 172.37.46.12, and to dial to external world, should dial 9 plus the number, so the config should look like this:

Router1>enable
Router1#config t
Router1(config)#dial-peer voice 1 pots
Router1(config-peer)#destination-pattern 5551623745
Router1(config-peer)#port 1/0/0
Router1(config-peer)#dial-peer voice 2 voip
Router1(config-peer)#destination-pattern +9T
Router1(config-peer)#session target ipv4:172.37.46.12
Router1(config-peer)#exit
Router1(config)#exit
Router1#copy running-config startup-config

I know it wasn´t asking to save the config, but I always do it... Better to do and get it right, than do not and get wrong, I don´t know... Just click on the phone, and it should start ringing!

Most of the questions was regarding SIP... good, because I find it easier than other protocols...

Download the testking at: www.net130.com

If I can do anything else, just let me know!

Cheers!

Hey buddy, the passing score for the CVOICE (642-432) is 734, really low, and the questions wasn´t so hard as everybody down here told me, just study the material, do the testking and you´ll be fine.

The LAB you´ll probably get the same one I did, I think they have just this LAB for CVOICE...

The only question they asked me regarding the very first chapters was what´s the range of human speech... only that, nothing regarding tones, old pbx stuff, key systems, study this as well, but not as hard as the other stuff.

Also, the QoS configuration for Catalyst switches wasn´t on my test. They asked me regarding the types of QoS I could apply to a WAN interface, and LAN interface... Just make sure which one does what.

No CAC configuration and nothing regarding this was on my exam.

The main point was dial-peers, voice-ports, signalling type, and a translation-rule question that is on the testking, the one with 0^.. the answer on testking is right, and the question is the same as in the exam.

Also, I had two question regarding how the signalling is carried in CAS (1 for T1 and 1 for E1), be carefull, the answer is tricky, and I haven´t saw this on the Testking.

I had like 15 questions from Testking (including the LAB), they also asked em too much regarding SIP, you´ll find some questions on the Testking, like, if a phone requests to resolves an address, and the server responds with the destination ip, what kind of server is this? (answer = redirect)

Drag´n Drop for SIP is also on testking and was the same as in my actual exam.

Well... that´s it, I´m going to CIPT now, and after that QoS, if you can tell me your exam experience after you take it, I´ll be great!

Cheers!

Which exam is a good starting point to work towards CCVP?  I passed my CCNP in March and need a new goal to work towards.

Do you guys think that CVOICE is exam that should be taken first, or is there another one that you recommend first?

I would take CIPT and Cisco Ip Telephony Troubleshooting first. To me these seemed to be less demanding then CVOICE.

Just my 2 cents...

I just completed CVOICE with an 812. Not the greatest score but I passed!

642-452 is all I have left to take now for CCVP
